Truth

Seek the truth, act according to the truth, and speak it kindly.

How often do you take truth for granted, without questioning what you assume to be true? How do you react when two reasonable people seem to believe completely incompatible truths about a situation or person? When two people are fully invested in their respective truths, how do we reconcile those truths so that we can move forward? Since truth is so often different at different times and from different people, how do we determine which truth will inform our actions?

6 Actionable Ways To Find & Speak Your Truth, by Tanya Carroll Richardson, author

"Humans usually resist change, and truth-telling initiates change. Most changes work out for the best in time, so remind yourself of that. Conversely, you might be afraid that your truth-telling will create no change at all. But remember, your truth-telling is guaranteed to cause change, if only in you—perhaps the most powerful change of all."

The Four Eternal Truths, by Simmi Valecha, professor

"The solution to every problem or dilemma lies within. It’s only when we’re able to unveil our fake identities and dissolve any distinctions that our hidden potential is unleashed and we become our greatest friend."

Mistakes: Results That Show The Truth Of Things, by Chris Lombard, horseman

"Whether you take that leap or not, the same thing is always there to catch you. Jump and you will be caught, land and you will be caught, fall and you will be caught. Do not jump and you are caught. So go forth and live by the heart."

Action

Examine your truths.

What are you lying to yourself about? What does the lie give you that you hold on to? How can you face the truth today, integrate it and move forward?

Think of a person you judge or disapprove of because of their life choices, their lifestyle, their behavior, their dress, or something else. What truths do these characteristics suggest? How fair is your judgement? What is your judgement based on? To what extent does the judgement also apply to you?

Take at least one action today to show someone that you understand their truth, even if it's not your truth.
